In Vino Veritas is back with a two-part bumper special from the 2012 Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne
It’s been a while, but Jason and Dave are back with a hilarious look back at GAC 2012. In a two-part bumper special, we’ve brought together the funniest interviews and reportage from the fringes of the atheist convention.
Part Alpha: the Theists
In this first AtheistCon special, we meet the theists who came to entertain us with their threats of hell, humourless chanting and significant prayer work. But what lies behind the bollocks? Wade with us into the cool place and hear the amazing stories…
Dannii from Aus Disciples
Dannii’s remarkable story has to be heard. After a catholic upbringing, via shamanism, powerlifing and professional lesbian BDSM, Dannii considers herself ‘born again’ and is loving it!
On Saturday, a group of noisy, noisy Muslims with long beards came to chant about hell and Muhammad for our entertainment. We caught a conversation between one of them and an atheist attendee on the subject of brotherhood and humanism. Meanwhile, the atheists won resoundingly in the national Humorous Chanting Competition.
Sunday night Christian Protest
On Sunday night, a coalition of churches staged a bloody awful Christian pop gig-cum-protest-cum-service called Unenjoyable. We caught up (after several beers) with one of the groups, an oddly afflicted group of celebrities from the First Church of Christ (Impeded). We reported live on their press conference announcing the return of Jesus of Nazareth, and speculated on the economic disaster such a return would in fact cause.
And if you didn’t get Jason’s New World Symphony gag then you are young, not British, only familiar with Ridley Scott’s feature-length work, or you can never quite place bakery-related uses of Dvorak’s ninth. Here you go:
